KARNS CITY, Pa. (EYT/D9) — It took awhile, but Karns City finally broke through.
And now the Gremlins girls soccer team will be chasing yet another District 9 championship.
Hanna Dailey scored midway through the second half to break a scoreless deadlock and Cece Morrow then added an insurance goal as Karns City beat defensive-minded Forest, 2-0, on Wednesday night to move on to play Brockway for the Class A title.
Emma Dailey and Lyrik Reed had the assists on those goals.
The Fires (13-4-1), the No. 3 seed, were committed to a game plan of defense and relying on keeper Emma McFarland to turn away shots.
She did to the tune of 16 saves.
Karns City (16-4) will take on fourth-seeded Brockway, which upset No. 1 Elk County Catholic, for the crown on a day and at a site and time to be determined.
