Redbank Valley’s Harmon Breaks School Record; DuBois’ Morgan Roemer Sets Meet Record at Redbank Invitational


NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT/D9) – Mylee Harmon has been gunning to break one minute in the 400-meter run.

The Redbank Valley freshman came very close Thursday at the Redbank Invitational.

Harmon ran a time of 1 minutes, .03 seconds to break her own school record in the event and place first. She also tied her school mark in the 200-meter dash at 26.43 seconds to win.

Harmon already has three Redbank Valley track and field marks under her belt. She also holds the high jump record at 5 feet, 4 inches.

She cleared 4-11 on Thursday to place fourth.

Morgan Roemer of DuBois shattered the Redbank Invitational record in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:20.75.

The previous record was held by Karns City’s Rebecca Pennington, who finished in 11:38.86 in 2018.

Ian Pete of Brookville won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.

He finished the 110 hurdles in 15.85 seconds and crossed the finish line in the 300 hurdles at 41.57.

The star of the day, though, was Hayden Smith of Union/A-C Valley, who cleared 6 feet, 9 inches in the high jump – a meet record and a school record. Read more about Smith’s day here.

Other highlights: Clarion-Limestone’s Ryan Hummell had a big day in the javelin with a throw of 180 feet, 7 inches. … Union/A-C Valley’s Dawson Camper won a competitive shot put competition with a throw of 49-3 1/2. … Redbank Valley’s Aiden Ortz claimed first in a tightly contested long jump with a leap of 20-6. … His Bulldog teammate, Cam Wagner, won the discus at 160-0. … Union/A-C Valley’s Evie Bliss is closing in on the school record in the javelin. She won Thursday with a throw of 136-2. The school mark is 142-7. … The Brookville boys had a strong day, winning six events, including the 3,200- and 400-meter relays.
