9-21 ROUNDUP: Clarion’s McKayla Kerle Earns Medalist Honors in Girls Mega Match

CLARION, Pa. (EYT/D9) – Clarion’s McKayla Kerle continued her strong campaign with a 41 at Clarion Oaks Tuesday to win medalist honors at the KSAC Girls Golf Mega Match.

Kerle won by eight strokes over Moniteau’s Brynne Barger, who shot a 49 to help the Warriors finish first as a team.

Alaina Hogue of Cranberry shot a 51 and Moniteau’s Emma Covert a 52.

Cross Country

Leo Paterniti finished first with a time of 17 minutes, 44 seconds for Bradford in a quad meet with Brookville, North Clarion and Punxsutawney at the Punxsutawney Country Club.

Andrew Barnoff was second for Punxsy, finishing in 17:55.

Calvin Doolittle of Brookville (18:03), Kaine McFarland of North Clarion (18:24) and Eric Surkala of Punxsutawney (18:24.10) rounded out the top five.

Punxsutawney finished first as a team with 38 points, followed by North Clarion (42) and Brookville (44). Bradford didn’t have a complete team.

On the girls side, Karie Dixon came in first for Bradford with a time of 20:11.

Punxsutawney’s Amy Poole was second at 21:14.

Caitlyn Taylor of Bradford (21:36), Brynn Siegel of North Clarion (21:40) and Laura Rittenhouse of Punxsy (22:00) were in the top five.

Punxsutawney also claimed first in the girls race with 27 points. Bradford was second with 36 and Brookville third with 61. North Clarion didn’t have a complete team.

Volleyball

Dominika Logue had 12 kills and 10 digs as Union beat Venango Catholic 25-10, 19-25, 25-8, 25-17.

Hailey Kriebel also had nine kills for the Damsels (4-2).

Kennedy Vogle pitched in 12 digs, Taylor Shick six kills, Keira Croyle 14 assists and three aces and Allie Conner five digs and four aces for Union.

Karns City 3, Moniteau 2 – Emma Johns had 12 kills, 13 assists and three aces and the Gremlins, playing shorthanded for undisclosed reasons, downed the rival Warriors, 25-17, 23-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-6.

Rosalie Carden added 10 kills, 11 assists, eight digs and three aces. Ashley Fox had 11 digs; Ava Fox eight kills, seven digs and four aces; Natalie Hess six kills, six digs and three aces; Cayley Craig four aces; and Kendall Ritzert three kills and two aces for Karns City.

No individual stats were available for Moniteau, which has now lost all three of its matches this season in five sets.

Cranberry 3, Clarion-Limestone 2 – Maria Anderson registed 13 kills and Ayanna Ferringer added 10 kills to lead the Berries to the 25-22, 26-24, 28-30, 21-25, 17-15 marathon win.

Ruby Smith had 20 kills for Clarion-Limestone in the loss.
