Wruble Gem Lifts DCC Softball to Victory Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

DUBOIS, Pa. – Ashley Wruble threw a one-hit gem to help DuBois Central Catholic to a 6-1 win over visiting Brookville Monday, April 2, at the Challenger Field in DuBois.

Wruble allowed one unearned run while walking two and striking out seven.

Helping her own cause on offense, Wruble went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Maia Cogley was also 2-for-4 with a run scored for DCC while Alyssa Bittner had a two-run single for the Lady Cardinals.

Marcey Schindler scored the lone run for Brookville after reaching on an error in the fifth, while Emily Kramer had the Lady Raiders lone hit, a third-inning single.

Carlie McManigle took the loss allowing six runs, three earned, on nine hits and a hit batter while striking out five.

BASEBALL

FRANKLIN 8, CLARION 6

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Ian Haynes was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Franklin to an 8-6 win over visiting Clarion Monday in a game originally slated for Tuesday.

Connor Rakow also had a pair of hits for the Knights, including a triple, and scored two runs.

Sterling Conner was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored for Clarion with Skylar Rhoades adding two hits and two RBIs and Drew Whren two hits and three RBIs.

Haynes, Rakow and Brendon Gordon pitched for Franklin. Haynes went three innings giving up three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five. Rakow pitched a 1/3 of an inning allowing three runs on two hits and four walks and Gordon went 3 2/3 allowing one hit and a walk while striking out four.

Rhoades started and lasted 2/3 of an inning for Clarion allowing five runs on a hit and four walks while striking out one. Cam Craig went 2 1/3 allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks while striking out three. Skyler Pastor gave up a run on two walks and Spencer Miller went three innings scoreless giving up a hit and two walks while striking out two.
