SMETHPORT 47, CAMERON COUNTY 36

SMETHPORT, PA. – Richie McDowell scored eight of his 10 points in the first quarter to help Smethport race out to an early nine-point lead on its way to a 47-36 upset of visiting Cameron County in NTL action.

The Hubbers (12-7 overall, 10-5 NTL) led 17-8 at the end of the first quarter and 28-17 at halftime on their way to all but ruining the Red Raiders (13-3, 11-2) hopes at an NTL championship.

Alex Ognent helped seal the victory by going 4 of 4 from the line in the fourth quarter and finished with a team-best 11 points. Noah Lent also scored six fourth-quarter tallies on his way to nine points with Layne Shall adding eight points and Hunter Helsley seven.

Dino Brown and Hayden Brown each scored a game-high 12 points to lead Cameron County, which is now two games back of Coudersport in the NTL race with three games left.

COUDERSPORT 67, PORT ALLEGANY 38

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Welcome back Travis Gleason.

Gleason, playing in his first game of the year after recovering from an injury suffered in football season, went off for a game-high 18 points while hauling down nine rebounds in a 67-38 Coudersport win over visiting Port Allegany in NTL action.

Dillon Keglovits added 17 points and eight boards in the victory for the Falcons with Hayden Keck scoring 11 points and coming away with six steals. Kolby VanWhy chipped in eight points, and Derek Easton handed out six assists.

Ty Guilds led Port Allegany with nine points with Jordan Card scoring eight and Howie Stuckey seven.

The win for Coudersport combined with Cameron County’s loss to Smethport gives the Falcons a two-game lead with three to play in its attempt to win a fifth straight NTL title.

JOHNSONBURG 53, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 29

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Gabe Watts netted a game-high 21 points to help Johnsonburg beat visiting DuBois Central Catholic, 53-29, in AML action.

Austin Green added 16 points in the win for the Rams.

Damon Foster and Jalen Kosko each scored seven points for DCC.

NORTHERN POTTER 74, OSWAYO VALLEY 65

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Carter Anderson exploded for a game-high 36 points and added 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots to lift Northern Potter to a 74-65 NTL road win over Oswayo Valley.

Anderson drained four 3-pointers and was 10 of 12 from the free-throw line.

Tre Slawson also hit four triples – NoPo hit 10 as a team – and scored 21 points to go with four steals for the Panthers, while Anthony Benway chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Cayden Black led Oswayo Valley with 16 points and five assists with Noah Wichert adding 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots and Gunner Bean chipping in 12 points.

OTTO-ELDRED 69, AUSTIN 50

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Jake Merry and Braden Maholic combined to score 43 points, as Otto-Eldred claimed a home NTL win, 69-50, over Austin.

Merry led all scorers with 22 points with Maholic adding 21.

TJ VanScoter chipped in seven points and 12 rebounds in the win for the Terrors while Cole Sebastian had three points and eight rebounds.

Jackson Glover led Austin with 19 points with Parker Glover and Joseph Glover Jr. each scoring 12 points.

HOLLIDAYSBURG 76, PUNXSUTAWNEY 42

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – Four Hollidaysburg players reached double digits in a 76-42 win over visiting Punxsutawney.

Jaden Deleme led the Tigers with 17 points with Shane Gildea and Josh Holsopple each scoring 16 points and Justin Dean adding 12.

Daren Byers scored nine points to lead Punxsutawney with Andrew Young adding eight.

GIRLS

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 34, CURWENSVILLE 31

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Lindsay Bordas drained a 3-pointer with 25.3 seconds left to help lift Philipsburg-Osceola to a 34-31 win over visiting Curwensville.

P-O trailed 31-29 when Samantha Bainey was fouled with 31.4 seconds left.

Bainey hit the first free throw but missed the second one. The rebounds kicked out to the wing where Alayna Weber tracked it down for the Lady Mountainers.

Weber then passed to Bainey who found Bordas open at the top of the circle for the go-ahead triple.

Bordas later hit one of two free throws to help seal the victory.

Curwensville led 29-26 going to the fourth quarter but was outscored 8-2 in the final eight minutes.

Bordas led P-O with 14 points with Bainey adding 10.

Alyssa Bakaysa had 10 points for Curwensville.
