Noah Harrison’s Clutch Two-Run Double Helps Clarion Rally From Four Down in the Seventh to Beat DuBois, 10-8

DuBOIS, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Trailing 8-4 heading into the top of the seventh inning, things were looking bleak for the Clarion baseball team.

But Derek Smail started things off with a single, Devon Lauer was plunked by a pitch and Tanner Miller singled to load the bases and spark what would be a six-run rally on the way to a 10-8 Bobcat win over DuBois on Tuesday afternoon.

Matt Alston drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 8-5, Dauntae Girvan followed with a RBI infield single to close the gap to 8-6, and then Dawson Smail delivered a two-run single to knot the game.

Noah Harrison provided the winning blow with a two-run double to complete the rally.

Derek Smail picked up the win in relief of Lauer, giving up one run on five hits. He struck out five and walked two.

DuBois jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Clarion, touching Lauer for five earned runs on four hits.

Harrison finished the day 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs for the Bobcats (7-1).

Danny Dixon went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in two runs for DuBois.

REDBANK VALLEY 11, CRANBERRY 1

Ty Carrier went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Jaxon Huffman tossed a one-hitter as the Bulldogs bounced back from a loss to Punxsy with a convincing win.

Huffman struck out seven and walked two in his strong five innings of work. He was also 2 for 4 at the plate and knocked in a pair.

Cole Lufsey also had a multi-hit game for Redbank (6-2).

UNION/A-C VALLEY SWEEPS VENANGO CATHOLIC

The Falcon Knights scored 41 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Vikings, winning the first game, 15-0, and the second game, 26-2.

Chase Ruth was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs in Game 1.

Sebastian Link homered and went 2 for 3 with two RBI in the second game.

Connor Langdon also had a big day in the nightcap, going 2 for 2 with three RBIs.

Link got the win in the first game, striking out six in three one-hit innings.

Trey Fleming went a combined 5 for 6 with five RBIs in the sweep.

SOFTBALL

Jada Polczynski hit a pair of home runs, going 3 for 3 with six RBIs, as Karns City beat Forest Area, 10-0, in six innings for a key KSAC win.

Addison Burrows picked up the shutout victory in the circle, tossing a three-hitter, striking out four and walking no one. She threw just 55 pitches, 38 for strikes.

Aubrey Taylor and Lyrik Reed also had multi-hit games for the surging Gremlins (6-3), who have won six of their last seven and have scored nine or more runs in each of those wins.

Karns City has put up 58 runs in its last four victories.

REDBANK VALLEY 24, BROOKVILLE 4

Keyauna Schimp went 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles and drove in six and Braylee Yeany also had four hits, including a triple, and five RBIs, as the Bulldog offense shined.

Redbank Valley had 26 hits in the game. Bella Orr had three hits, including a double; Mackenzie Foringer had three hits and three RBIs; Quinn White went 3 for 5 with a home run and Izzy Bond, Samantha Bowser and Alara Altobeli also had multi-hit games.

CENTRAL CLARION 18, KEYSTONE 1

Jenna Dunn knocked in four and tripled as the Wildcat offense came alive with 15 hits in a win over the Panthers.

Abby Knapp-Greeley also homered and scored three runs for Central Clarion.

Alexa Kitchen, Kaylee Smith, Alyssa Wiant and Knapp-Greeley all had multi-hit games.

Dunn got the win in the circle.
