DUBOIS, Pa. – Rachael Schiafone’s penalty kick goal 1:26 into the second overtime gave Ridgway its first-ever girls’ soccer title with a 2-1 win over 2016 champion Brockway in the Class 1A title game at DuBois High School.

Brockway, the top seed, forced overtime with just under 23 minutes to play when Chanell Britten’s shot into the upper right corner knotted the game at one.

Ridgway, which beat Brockway in each of the team’s last two meetings this year, had a 1-0 halftime lead thanks to a Madeline Cowan goal with just 1:30 left in a first half that was dominated by the Lady Rovers, who outshot Ridgway 8-2 and had four corners to the Lady Elkers two.

Lindsey Kocjancic was the difference for Ridgway making 16 saves.

Both teams move into the PIAA playoffs with Ridgway taking on WPIAL third-place finisher Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic and Brockway facing WPIAL champion Greensburg Central Catholic. Both of those contests are Tuesday at sites and times to be determined.
