4-11 ROUNDUP: Redbank Valley and North Clarion split on the track; Moniteau Baseball Downs Rival Karns City

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. (EYT/D9) – Brynn Siegel and freshman Emalie Best each won two individual events and ran legs on winning relay teams as the North Clarion girls track and field team downed Redbank Valley, 79-63, on a soggy Monday afternoon.

Best won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.4 seconds and also claimed the 300-meter hurdles, finishing in 53.1 seconds. Last week, Best won four events in a win over Keystone and qualified for the District 9 meet in both hurdles.

Siegel won the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run. She broke the tape in the 1,600 with a time of 6 minutes, 3.6 seconds and finished the 3,200 in 13:30.9.

Redbank Valley freshman Mylee Harmon had a big day for Redbank. She won the 400-meter dash (1:02.7), the 200-meter dash (28.0) and the high jump (no height provided).

On the boys side, Joe Mansfield and Cam Wagner each claimed two field events as Redbank Valley downed North Clarion, 78-57.

Mansfield won the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 6 inches and also triumphed in the long jump at 20-4.5.

Wagner won the discus with a throw of 144-7 and the shot with an effort of 45-3.

Kaine McFarland was a triple winner for North Clarion. He won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200.

He finished the 800 in 2:24, the 1,600 with a time of 5:08 and the 3,200 in 11:47.

SOFTBALL

Leah Exley and Karley Callander each homered and drove in three as Keystone downed Redbank Valley, 11-5.

Exley also got the win in the circle in a game shortened to five innings by rain. She struck out five and walked two to notch the victory.

Keyauna Schimp had a pair of hits and two RBI for the Bulldogs.

BASEBALL

Branson Carson struck out 11 over 5 2/3 innings and Brock Matthews went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI as Moniteau downed Karns City, 8-1, at Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Historic Pullman Park.

Dawson Wallace also had a pair of hits and three RBI for the Warriors (2-1).

Karns City (2-2) managed just two hits against Carson and Matthews, who closed out the game.

Mallick Metcalfe and Braden Grossman each had singles.

CLARION 23, EAST FOREST 0 – Dauntae Girvan went 3-for-3 with a home run and six RBI and the Bobcats scored 22 runs in the first inning on the way to this three-inning win.

Girvan was one of three Clarion players to homer. Cameron Lapinto and Chase Kriebel also went deep.

Lapinto had a 4-for-4 day with three RBI. Devon Lauer also drove in four runs for the Bobcats.

Jimmy Kerr got the win, striking out seven in three innings. He have up just one hit.
