Union/A-C Valley Pulls Away From Keystone for 15-6 Softball Victory

SLIGO, Pa. (EYT/D9) — Kya Wetzel homered and knocked in three and Bella Ielase scored three runs as the Union/A-C Valley softball team toppled Keystone, 15-6, on Tuesday afternoon.

Six of the Falcon Knights’ nine hits went for extra bases. Autumn Blystone, Alivya Hartzell, Ava Snyder, Brianna Anthony and Maddy Dehart each doubled to go with Wetzel’s homer.

Hartzell and Blystone also each drove in three.

Magen Walzak picked up the win in relief, throwing four scoreless innings while giving up just one hit and striking out five.

Bella Brandon hit a three-run homer for Keystone that at the time put the Panthers up 6-3 in the top of the fourth inning.

Union/A-C Valley regained the lead with five runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth and pulled away with seven in the bottom of the sixth.

Ieslase also stole five bases as the Falcon Knights had 12 in the game.

CRANBERRY 7, DuBOIS 6

Gracee Hess singled home Jadyn Shumaker with the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Berries.

The rally started with a leadoff walk by Shumaker. With two outs, Reyna Watson walked to set up the heroics by Hess.

Watson was 2 for 4 for Cranberry.

Hess also got the win in relief. She gave up two runs (one earned) in six innings of work.

FOREST 7, KANE 5

Alexis Oswald and Brooke Felleti each doubled and Faith Dietrich tripled as the Fires snapped a four-game losing skid with a win over the Wolves.

Oswald, Felleti, Dietrich and Alexa Carll each had multiple hits for Forest.

Izzy Flick picked up the win. She went six, giving up three runs (none earned) on three hits while striking out six.

BASEBALL

Mason Clouse homered for the second time in two days, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs as Redbank Valley scored seven runs in the third innings to cruise to an 11-3 win over North Clarion.

Clouse also doubled as part of his big day at the plate.

Braylon Wagner, Jaxon Huffman, Owen Clouse and Ryan Hepler doubled for the Bulldogs.

Breckin Minich had a pair of hots and two RBIs and Carson Gould also knocked in two for Redbank Valley (10-2).

Gould picked up the win, going 2⅓ innings in relief of Mason Clouse. He have up one run on two hits, striking out three.

Clouse was effective in his two scoreless innings, fanning five.

Matt Kozma pitched the final 2⅔ innings, also striking out five.

Ethan Carll and Kyle Rusiewicz each had a pair of hits for North Clarion. Rusiewicz and Logan Bishg each had a double.

UNION/A-C VALLEY 4, KEYSTONE 3

Adrian Schmoll singled, driving in Cody Bobbert with the winning run with no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Falcon Knights to a come-from-behind victory.

Keystone led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh, but Union/A-C Valley scored twice on a double by Trey Fleming and a single by Sebastian Link. Fleming was thrown out at the plate on Link’s hit to end the inning and send the game to extras.

Fleming picked up the win in relief of Link. He threw 2⅔ no-hit innings, striking out three.

Link was also sharp, going 5⅓. He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and struck out 10.

Drew Keth got the start for Keystone and pitched well, giving up three runs (also two earned) on eight hits. He struck out six.

Chaz Renninger went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles for the Panthers.
